Once in the morning in my office I was really shocked. As I moved to my beautyful Ramón Allones – Perfectos – Edición Regional Suiza 2014 – humidor, to take one cigar. I noticed a small line in the surface of the ornaments.  As I took a closer look, I noticed the line was a crack of approx. three cm in length.
How could this happen? It must be the change of humidity and temperature. Normaly special humidors, which containing cigars, are stored in a walk in humidor, or humidity  and temperature controlled room. If the humidor gets placed in a non controlled environment, there is allways a tension between different woods. The humidor is built from 70 years old wood, but the ornaments are on a small layer of different wood. The only thing I just wondering: My office is humidity and temperature controlled.
The good thing: I could change the humidor last Friday at the La Casa del Habano, Zurich. I hope the problem doesn’t arise a second time.

Eines morgens war ich in meinem Büro wirklich geschockt. Als ich zu meinem hübschen Ramón Allones – Perfectos – Edición Regional Suiza 2014 Humidor ging, um eine Zigarre zu entnehmen. Ich bemerkte eine dünne Linie auf der Oberfläche der Ornamente. Als ich diese näher betrachtete, bemerkte ich, dass diese ein Riss von ca. drei cm Länge war.
Wie konnte das geschehen? Es muss die Änderung der Luftfeuchtigkeit und Temperatur sein. Normalerweise werden speizielle Humidore, welche Zigarren enthalten, in einem feuchtigkeits- und temperaturkontrollierten Raum gelagert.  Wenn der Humidor in einen nicht kontrollierte Umgebung platziert wird, gibt es immer eine Spannung zwischen verschiedenen Hölzern. Der Humidor ist aus 70-jährigem Holz gefertigt, aber die Ornamente sind auf einer dünnen Schicht eines anderen Holzes. Das einzige was ich mich wundere: Mein Büro ist feuchtigkeits- und temperaturkontrolliert.
Das gute ist: Letzten Freitag konnte ich ihn gegen einen neuen, in der La Casa del Habano, Zürich, austauschen. Ich hoffe das Problem taucht nicht ein zweites mal auf.
